Science Center
Introduction Science Center Singapore (新加坡科学馆) is a scientific based center which specialize in newest technological and scientific education exhibits and galleries for the general public. It is opened on 10 December 1977 by Dr Toh Chin Chye, who was the Minister-in-charge of the Science Centre Board. Located in the Jurong East district it is situated on a site of 60,000 m² and was built at a cost of 12 million dollars. In 1987, the Omni Theatre is built at a cost of $18 million. It is a dome shaped structure with 267 seats. In 2000, Snow-City was built to allow public to experience -5 degrees environment. If you like star gazing, you can head to the observatory. If you are hungry, there are F&B outlets here for some snacks. There are also souvenir retail shops here. Wheelchair services is available at the entrance. As part of Jurong redevelopment, a new Science Center will be built to replace the old Science Center. It will be located on the north part of the lake located near to Chinese Garden Mrt station. It is part of the plan to integrate the new science center to the new Jurong Lake Gardens. It is expected to be completed by 2020. Follow the road until... - At the second trafic light, turn left into Science Centre Road, and right into the car park. 2. From West via AYE: - Take Exit 13 and turn left onto Jurong Town Hall Road. Follow the road until... - At the second trafic light, turn left into Science Centre Road, and right into the car park. 3. From the East via PIE: - Take Exit 29 and follow Toh Guan Road past IMM and Boon Lay Way into Jurong East Street 11. - At the next trafic light, turn right onto Jurong Town Hall Road. - At the next trafic light, turn left into Science Centre Road, and right into the car park. 4. From the West via PIE: - Take Exit 31 and turn right onto Jurong Town Hall Road. Follow the road until... - At the third traffic light, turn right into Science Centre Road, and right into the car park. The nearest Mrt station is at Jurong East Station and then get on Bus 66 or 335. Or you can choose to walk there from Jurong East Station.
